Exploring AI Integration: Enhancing Design and Efficiency

As AI technology continues to revolutionize design, construction, and operations, we are diligently exploring opportunities to integrate AI into our processes when and where it makes the most impact. While AI presents exciting possibilities, we remain committed to ensuring that its implementation is both secure and beneficial to our services and, ultimately, to our clients.

Our focus is on leveraging AI to enhance creativity, improve efficiency, and streamline workflows without compromising design integrity. Here are some of the key AI tools and applications we are currently investigating:

AI for Design and Visualization

  • Corbu (currently in beta) – While the information on this platform is still limited, Corbu aims to be a cutting-edge AI tool for design applications. FDG has been working with the developer for the past year while it is still in beta to provide feedback to help improve the application from data collection, the process, and flow to the output and end results.

  • AI Text-to-Image Tools – Rather than relying on Google or Pinterest for inspiration, AI-powered tools enable us to generate custom inspiration images tailored to our specific design needs.

  • Training AI Models Using Previous Work – By leveraging past projects, we can create AI models that understand our design language and aesthetic, allowing for more accurate and efficient concept development.

  • Veras (Evolve Lab) – This AI-driven tool allows us to generate high-quality images from 3D models or sketches, delivering live results within seconds instead of the hours or days required by traditional rendering methods.

AI for Space Planning and Documentation

  • Morphis (Evolve Lab) – A generative design tool that assists in space planning, updating layouts dynamically as adjustments are made in real-time.

  • Glyph (Evolve Lab) – An AI application powered by GPT technology that enhances efficiency in documentation, including auto-generating room elevations, dimensions, and tagging.

  • Automation of Repetitive Tasks – From auto-dimensioning to auto-tagging, AI can significantly reduce manual workload and improve consistency in deliverables.

AI for Productivity and Operations

Beyond design applications, we are exploring AI solutions for project management, meeting documentation, and marketing:

  • AI for Meeting Notes & Minutes – Automating the transcription and summarization of meeting discussions to improve clarity and record-keeping.

  • AI-Powered Project Management Tools – Enhancing collaboration, tracking deadlines, and streamlining communication.

  • Digital Personal Assistant & In-House AI Trainer – A chatbot to provide quick answers to internal inquiries and assist with onboarding new team members.

  • Egnyte's AI Feature – AI-driven document analysis for efficient review and summarization, reducing time spent on lengthy documentation.

Balancing Innovation with Security & Value

While the potential benefits of AI are clear, we are taking a cautious and strategic approach to implementation. Security and data integrity remain top priorities, and we are ensuring that every AI tool we integrate aligns with our standards for confidentiality and quality. We are looking to AI augment our capabilities to enhance creativity, efficiency, and client satisfaction, not replace our expertise.

As we continue to research and test AI solutions, we are excited about the possibilities ahead. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements while maintaining a thoughtful and measured approach, we are committed to leveraging AI in ways that truly enhance our work and provide tangible value to our clients.
